WOMALOYA is An International musical creation Reunion – Australia 100% female-led This artistic project is a powerful and intimate encounter between four female artists from the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific. It is a unique musical creation blending the traditional maloya of Réunion Island with contemporary Australian sounds Katy Toave, singer, dancer, and traditional percussionist from Réunion, has carried the legacy of maloya maniér fanm with strength and authenticity for over 26 years. She is joined by: ·Emily Sheppard is a composer, performer and marine scientist based in Nipaluna, Tasmania. ·Flora Carbo is a saxophonist, composer and music leader from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). · Rosie is a talented singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Sydney Australia. Together, they weave an artistic dialogue between ancestral rhythms, contemporary improvisation, committed voices, and the creative energy of women. This project places female creators at the heart of the stage, fostering a rare and powerful South-to-South cultural exchange. It opens a space for transmission, creation, and resonance between two island cultures, rich in heritage and driven by contemporary expression.
