Louise Whelan

Louise is a research based artist, photographer and oral historian whose work explores lived experience, cultural memory and the visibility of women’s histories. As the lead artist behind the Women in Space Oral History and Photographic Project with the National Library of Australia, Louise has been documenting the voices and experiences of women across the space sector. During this residency, she plans to develop a new research-based body of work responding to this collection, in consultation with specialists in space medicine and extreme environments. Working as part of The Orbit Collective, the project will explore the intersection of the human body, space, and gender.
